via Exch System Mgr,(Exch 2003 on Server 2003) it shows that the database last full backup was done on 6/19/2010. Around this time I switched my backup software from Symantec Backup Exec to Acronis Backup & Recovery 10. It appears that Acronis is not able to backup the DB that same as Symantec. Can I use ntbackup to get the job done and will Exchange System Manager show that the DB has been backed up? Thanks much, Jim Cave, IT Manager, Acme Paper& Supply Co. jcave@acmepaper.com

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

JimCave,

The version of Acronis you have is not Exchange aware. You need an exchange aware program to backup Exchange properly. Acronis sells an Exchange aware backup, but NTBackup will also backup Exchange properly.

I cannot say that ESM will show that a proper backup has occurred, never used it for that. I have always relied on the log file and an occasional test restore to check the validity of the backup.
