Exchange 2000 can receive but not send
Hello,
I have a Microsoft Exchange system that is handling email for two remote companies connected via Sites and Services. Email at the primary location flows without any issues, but users with the 'second' email address name are unable to send email. They can receive email, but nothing happens when they send.

Are the emails being queued on the server? What error message if any do they recieve?

Check the firewall settings, and make sure you have all the required ports open.

Thanks for the response Mshen!
The emails are not being queued on the server - the server is clear. The users are not getting any error messages at all. The messages are simply not delivered. This same Exchange box handles email for another company and there are no email issues there - emails can be sent and are received with no issues. We can even log in to the server using OWA and send and receive with no issues - it only seems to be a problem when configuring POP3 on an Outlook client. I have configured POP3 on an external Outlook client for the second email address and haven’t had any issues. I’m really scratching my head here……

Make sure your outgoing SMTP port (default 25) is open on the firewall or vpn device. You may also need to look at your local firewall to make sure your exchange server can transmit data on that port as well.
