Creating a shortcut for Exchange 2007 TSM GUI

After I installed the TSM Exchange TDP (Exchange 2007 CCR cluster) and tried to launch the GUI I got an error that the exchange server was unavailable. I did some digging and found out I had to launch the GUI from the tdp command line using tdpexc /excserver=exchangeservername on a clustered exchange server. On the same page they told me I could change the shortcut to the GUI to include that by adding it to target field. I opened the shortcut properties and found the target field was grayed out. So I tried creating a new shortcut with the additional information but got an error that this was invalid information. Has anyone successfully created a shortcut for the exchange tdp GUI for TSM on an Exchange 2007 CCR cluster?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

We are using Exchange 2007
TDP for Exchange 5.5.100 works like a charm no /execserver.

I have not yet found a resolution for this. Are there any TSM users who can help me?

thnx capatinx, is it a clustered server? The /excserver is required when it is a microsoft clustered server.

try pointing it to your OPT file with this line "C:Program FilesTivoliTSMTDPExchangetdpexc.exe" /tsmoptfile=dsmarch.opt

I don't understand what dsmarch.opt is. I see no such file in my tdp directory. I tried adding this and it did not work either.

oops my mistake. try “C:Program FilesTivoliTSMTDPExchangetdpexc.exe” /tsmoptfile=dsm.opt. If you open dsm.opt in notepad, there should be a line with the name of the exchange server. Thats what makes the link between exchange and TSM

I tried adding the "tsmoptfile=dsm.opt." to the shortcut, still no go. As stated before the instructions i found say I can change the shortcut to the GUI to include /excserver=exchangeservername for the GUI to open on a clustered server by adding it to target field, but the target field is grayed out and it doesn't work if I create a new shortcut either with that addition. For now I just open the GUI using the command line instead. At least that works. I just wish I could get the GUI icon to work. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
