I am fairly new to Exchange, but I have successfully migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. Now I am looking to set up my DR site with a backup exchange server and I would just like some verification that I am doing it correctly. What I have is an Exchange CAS/HUB/DB server and a separate EdgeTransport server here in production.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I would recommend you look at utilizing CA’s XOsoft High Availability Solution. This solution will help synchronize 2 servers or more and can TEST on the fly when needed for verification. I’ve installed and configured this solution for a local bank and they love it as a charm. They used to test once inconsistently within 2 years due to issues varying from improper setup and configuration. With this solution, they are now consistently testing (LIVE TOO) with active users semi-annually. No issues to date. The solution will synchronize the contents between servers and when needed it will update DNS to the IP of your DR server and all users will automatically reconnect to the DR site with no intervention.

I am new sorry, but I can't see where it add all of my detail :) so here it is: I also have a spare server for DR that will be located in another State. Can you verify the following? My recovery Server has to be the same OS (Windows Server 2003) as my Production CAS/HUB/DB? I assume this is the case for the setup/m:RecoverServer to work? Would my best option be to build my DR server (with Windows Server 2003) and not install Exchange, but rather wait for a Disaster and then run: "setup /m:RecoverServer" switch and have it installed using AD (after configuring the DR server with the same domain name and Drive configuration of course)? Then restoring data to the server. Any other thoughts that I need to consider? Do you have any documentation or tutorials online that you could direct me to for a how to on this subject? Thanks,
