 Exchange 2003 queue retry issue
Hello all,

Recently we upgrading from a 2000 Small Business Exchange server to a Windows 2003 Exchange server. Currently, we have the all the exchange services disabled on the 2000 server, and Exchange 2003 is the mail server. Email is working 99% of the time. When browsing through the directory structure in system manager, under the new 2003 server, there is a queue for the old server with messages retrying in it. The users are also not receiving emails once in a while from various senders. It seems like the old server is in conflict with the new one. Please help to point me in the right direction. Thanks,

Tim

Answer Wiki:
Are both servers in the same org and admin group ?
Are all the users off the old server ?
Have you moved your connectors off the old server ?

Do a look on the MS knowledgebase for "how to remove the first server". You will probably have to move your free busy and offline address book folders to the new E2K3 server and then uninstall the old server.

Also if you rename or rebuild the old box, your outlook clients might hang trying to contact it. Solution is to recreate all your mapi profiles.

MS have an arcticle in their knowledgebase on how to remove the first server in the site ( for 5.5 ) I presume theres a similar one for SBS. You can also lookup "going to native mode Exchange 2003".
