Exchange 2003 distribution group receiving only internal email

We are running Exchange Server 2003, and there is a distribution group that can recieve internal but not external email. We have not applied any changes on the server recently. What could be the problem?

Are the people who are sending to the group getting a non-delivery report? Are they sending to the correct address? Internally it might be pg-company distribution group, but the address to send to externally might be distgroup1@company.com or something like that. Check to see what the email address is on the distribution group.
