Q:
Exchange 2003 can a user from another administrative group in Germany can get his email on his mobile through our front end server.
Our Exchange 2003 servers make up one of a number of administrative groups for a European wide exchange org. I have built a front end server protected by ISA server for our users windows mobile. I have been asked if a user from another administrative group in Germany can get his email on his mobile through our front end server. Is this possible ?

The front-end server will locate the user in AD and proxy the session for the user if they are in a different site. This may result in a questionable user experience as a result of traversing the WAN internally. If the Exchange Server hosting the user mailbox has its own front-end servers and a direct connection to the Internet, using regional URLs may be more desirable and efficient. This gets tricker in Exchange Server 2007, so you may want to start thinking about these kinds of things now if you are considering upgrading down the road.
