 Excel date format
I am trying to copy data from one of our systems into Excel. Everything copies into Excel except the dates. My source data date format is MMM DD, YYYY (example Jul 14, 2004). I have tried changing the Excel from general to text and also tried changing the date formats.

Software/Hardware used:
Excel 2003

Answer Wiki:
Excel Help says you can use a function called DATEVALUE. In an empty cell, type =DATEVALUE( then click the cell that has the Text date and then close the parenthesis and press ENTER. That gives you the serial number of the date, and you can use format to cause it to to look like the date format you want.

I had a long winded answer and fortunately forgot to sign on so it didn’t post.
Then I saw Tlsanders1 reply. Son of a gun – I tested it and works like a charm.
Another tool in the box!
Thanks tl
