Q:
excel 2007
I am trying to use non-adjacent ranges to setup a clustered column with 3D visual effect option by pressing the ctrl key and selecting my ranges and every time I get the box saying one can't use the chart with information selected, what am I doing wrong?

I can only assume you used ctrl ket to select FIRST area of non-adjacent ranges. This will not work as Excel will also include whatever cell was active before this selection and thus the final selection will be non-graphable. If first range is selected normally and then subsequent non-adjacent ranges are selected using the control key, then the creation of column graph will work. Alternatively press SHIFT-F8 after initial selection and then select other ranges.
