Excel 2007-There was a problem sending the command to the program.

No existing Excel document will open. I can create a new document & save it but it will not open. Excel diagnostics doesn't detect any problems. Un-installed Excel and the existing documents opened. Installed SP3 & updates & now existing documents won't open.

    U un-installed excel and again installed, even installed sp3 and made necessary updates, well but no desired result will be found out of there ! Have u tried to open any word file in Word 2007.... and got same error, however, what kind of error u got/ what message shown, that u did not disclose here. Probably it is related to registry related probs, though it is my guess. Until know the exact error message or what kind of behavior excel did, unable to provide any fruitful suggestions/ concepts.
