A user presses send/receive in Outlook 2003 (to Exchange 2003). An error is displayed:
Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x08004010F): 'The operation failed. An object could not be found.'
The sync log displays the same error but only after apparently completing successfully (the last line displayed before the error is "Done."
I've been reading up on this and seem to have eliminated the usual suspects.
1) Recreated profile. I've tried this with more than one user on a clean build PC that has never been used for Outlook before. On each occasion the relevant profile has been created as new. All users in this organisation use cached mode; this error only occurs when cached mode is turned on.
2) Recreated Offline Address book (on PC)
3) Confirmed all OAL settings are correct on the server.
4) turned on max OAL error logging and regenerated the OAL, This generated lots of errors all of which were regarding invalid mailboxes or addresses etc. These have been corrected and there are now no errors on the logs when rebuilding the OAL on the server.
This problem seems to affect the majority of users so is probably a server issue but I can find no "missing objects".
