Error: Server service is not started
Windows XP Pro system - Error "Server service is not started" appears when trying to access the "Member of" tab of user properties. The "server" service is not listed in the services list on this machine. I can change group memberships from the group properties but from the user properties. How can I re-install the server service or otherwise correct this problem?

I'm just guessing, but you could try doing a reinstallation of XP. Do NOT choose the first repair option though, wait until it detects the O/S, and then try to repair that. Good luck, Bob

Hello,

Make sure you have ‘File and Print Sharing’ enabled on your Local Area Connection’ properties. Server service is tied to this.

Good Luck!
