 Error Messages Win XP Pro
I am plagued by an "ekrn.dll error " message frequently in Win XP. i believe it is something to do with the ESET NOD32 Anti Virus I run on the PC. I run the same anti virus program on Win 7 with no problems. I am also getting an "svchost.dll" error message each time I shutdown or restart Windows. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Answer Wiki:
Try to completely unisntall the ESET NOD32 anti virus. Restart the computer, and observe if the same will happen again ! 1. If not, then u take a fresh copy of the same AV and again install the same. Most probably, any files that related to this AV possibly corrupt. U may use another AV (licensed) and try to install it. Also check if there are any updates available for the same application on their website 2. If the problem happens again after uninstall, then reboot the PC in Safe Mode (pressing F8) and may use "System Restore utility" to roll back to a previous known working condition. U may also run sfc / scannow command to verify that all protected Windows files are fine, scan the system for errors, and repair these errors. OR U may also copy the same DLL file from another computer from the network (if exists). Remember, when copy, must take care about compatible DLL file. And register the same on system by running the REGSVR32 /u DLL_Name.dll command. Hope it may pull out from now where u r !

Could also try this -I have also known Malware infections to translate as ekrn.exe, so i recommend you to run a Malware scanner.

Weve been supplying clients with NOD32 Antivirus/Security for Home and Bussiness users for 3 years now. I can reassure that particular error is ralated to NOD32 .dll files either corrupt or missing.. I would have to agree with what Rechill have provided you, usually that fixes it.
However if im not mistaken their are times where you might come across with problem uninstalling the NOD32.(could find a good uninstaller software to remove it)

Could also try this -I have also known Malware infections to translate as ekrn.exe, so i recommend you run at least one Malware scanner.
