I have the following error message. "Can't open this item. Errors have been detected in the file c:documents and settingsdonlocal settingsapplication datamicrosoftoutlookoutlook.pst Quit all mail enabled applications and use the inbox repair tool.
When I use the repair tool, it stops and says to run scandsk.
I run chkdsk an dtry again whit same results

Yes, on the third pass it stops a 76 percent and tells me to run scandsk.
I don’t have scandsk but have run chkdsk It completes but I get the same results with scan.pst
Sounds like you have some bad hard drive sectors that need to be fixed. In chkdsk, use automatically fix file system erros and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. You will have to reboot the machine before it runs. This is a very time consuming task, so have it run overnight.

I still have same problem
The scanpst fails at 76 percent on phase 3 pass
Any other thoughts?
If the microsoft tool doesn’t work you need to get a professional application. You can try Stellar Phoenix software which has worked for me in the past.
