Sometime, valid certificates issue faced by the user, so in such case, validation of valid certificates most important:

  1. Open Outlook > Click Tools > Options
  2. Select the Security Tab -> Click on Settings
  3. Under Certificates and Algorithms -> Click choose and select the correct certificate.

Check server certificate validation:

  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers
  2. Under the User container -> Select the user -> Properties
  3. Select the Published Certificates Tab -> Remove the other certificates which are not valid.

    Probably, you received an encrypted message which used such public key which is not installed on your computer/ might be digital certificate is damaged. Try to export this certificate from browser preferably IE.

    Where did the Outlook item come from? Were you able to open it before and cannot any more? You could always ask the sender to re transmit it without the security.
