Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Check out this site for file information it gives you a list of other programs that can open the files. It lists 15 different programs if I counted correctly.

What did you mean by open .eps file, as you mentioned illustrator is too expensive for you. If you just want to open these type of files, there are several free/ open source that can help to open & read the contains. But assuming you want to open it as well as edit the same. For this purpose, you cam use open source utility like ghostscript (link: https://ghostscript.com/download/gsdnld.html) / inkscape is a software similar to Illustrator. Also gimp helps the same way. Also you can convert .eps to .jpeg/ .png format that can easily be handled.

You may try Photoshop or CoreDARW. I get this answer from web, I myself did not testify it.

One of them, that I used earlier is "EPS Viewer"

If you currently can't open an .EPS file, how do you know it should be opened? (How do you know what it contains?) Are you wanting to process .EPS files from business/work at home? Was it a web download? Sent in e-mail? If the source can't be verified, it should simply be deleted.

Are you certain it was created by Adobe?

You can't use the .EPS extension to determine what the file is; any file can have any extension without changing what the file is or can do.

Encapsulated postscript vector graphics/EPS is an file format/extension, that is basically/specially created on Adobe Illustrator. If you change extension of any file, that may be an invalid when you try to open it.

The other alternative is ask who is sending you the file for a different format. This way you can be sure there is no loss of any thing during a conversion to a different format you may be doing.

Going back to the sender, or wherever the file came from, is almost always the best choice. It's most likely an Encapsulated PostScript file, but the sender might have made an assumption about what format to send and could choose differently.

Assuming it's Encapsulated PostScript, the Wikipedia article lists many possible apps. Regardless, opening any file is a risk when you don't know what is. The next day you might be opening a new question here that starts with something like "My computer has suddenly started acting funny."
