Hello, I am a Sr. Asset Management Consultant at a top Management Consulting firm. I work in the enterprise asset management space providing public clients ( city, county, utilities) asset management best practices to manage their infrastructure assets. I am considering getting myself trained in SAP to improve my enterprise asset management and enterprise resource planning skills. I do not have any prior experience in SAP and have some programming background from my graduate research days (Matlab and VBA). I have a PhD in Civil Engineering. I would appreciate your advice on where to start and which particular module to focus on. Please let me know if you need any additional information to provide guidance. Thanks in advance!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

According to your background, my suggestion is to go for SAP-PLM. I think it fits for your future career. Also you may go for SAP-ABAP though you have programming language background. For more concept, please visit here.

Rechil, Thanks! What is the market demand for SAP PLM + ABAP skills. I have been working for around 4 years after my PhD. With sufficient training in the above, what would be my expected salary range in the market? Also, how do I get started in getting myself trained? I live in Charlotte, NC. Your prompt response is much appreciated!
