enable and Disable networkcard in as400

Network connectivity, iSeries, AS/400, NIC

Hi, my name is Gabreil and I want to know how can I disable and enable the networkcard from my as400 V5R3 because someday may light from the company go down but I have and UPS and my iseries as400 server still up, but the network card I hope that the netwokcard are autobloqued, because the IP are not responding, so I need to resstart the server and work correctly, but I want to know is only disabled and enabled my card it is ok or i need to restart my server as400 ???

You can try to disable and enable your nic but I highly doubt that will solve your problem. Your power went out from what I can determine and your server is up on ups. Are your switches and hubs also on UPS? If the server is up but the backbone or infrastructure is down - you are not going to get anywhere.

But I digress... Yes you can try disabling/enabling your nic without causing more problems.

Option 1 - Work with TCP/IP interfaces
Option 10 - End - to end a specific interface
Option 9 - Start - to start a specific interface

It probably goes without saying...but we've all been up 24 hours before and been tired, so I'll say it anyway... Make sure to not do this from a telnet connection to the interface you are connecting to or you will lose your connection after doing option 10 and not be able to connect again until you run option 9 from the console.
