hi , we are having a problem currently with our SAN system the model is dell emc-cx300 . the SPA is ok but the SPB is unreachable . fibre cables are connected ok . i can ping it and it shows as U icon on SPB which mean unmange in Navisphere manager . i think the storage array software (OS for SPB) is gone is there any way to fix it . will be really appreciated .

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You can try powering down the SPb and powering it back up and seeing if it comes back up. Are you sure that nothing else was assigned the IP address of SPB? If there was an IP conflict that would probably show as the SP being unmanaged.

If the FLARE code is actually gone from the system (which isn’t take likely) then you’ll probably need to contact DELL or EMC and engage them to come and repair the problem.

The problem might be related to a vault drive failure. Vault drives are the first 5 drives in the array.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking. If your IT guy removed the vault drives from the array and put them back in, I'm quite surprised that either SP stayed online. There should be a label on those drives which says do NOT remove them. If he removed them anyway I would recommend talking to your manager about it. No one should be removing drives from the array unless the drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

You'll probably want to call EMC Support. This is a pretty big problem your IT guy has caused.

Agreed, your IT guy has screwed you big. I suspect that, if SP A goes down, you will no longer have access to any storage from your connected hosts. The first 5 drives hold the frame's OS (the FLARE code any any supporting software), and if they were physically removed with the power and the SPs still active, then the OS image is probably corrupt and SP A is living on borrowed time. I would put in a call to EMC and, if you don't have it, get your manager to agree to pay for priority service.
