We're running Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 with Sunbelt VIPRE for email security. I had a user complain of a strange issue that he is experiencing when using OWA in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.
When he clicks on his name at the root of his mailbox's folder structure (or in FireFox when he clicks to view the list of folders), there are messages displayed beneath the folder list. These messages do not appear in any place we can find in his normal desktop Outlook (2010). In addition, although the messages show up in FireFox, they are not openable due to an error message. Only in Internet Explorer can they be opened.
According to the dates, they have been showing up consistently for some time, but they seem to be coming from different addresses and with no clear correlation as to why they are being put there. Also, there do not seem to be any strange delivery rules in place (as I am told by the user).
I told him to go to his account in Internet Explorer and move them to his Inbox for now...but I need to find out why this is happening so I can prevent it in the future.
