I'd recommend having the use try to open the email on a different PC and see if that makes a difference. Is this a remote worker or someone directly connected to the network? Try removing Cache.ndk from the notes data folder. Look at the notes log in the Notes client or Domino server to see if there is any potential errors related to the email opening. Try downgrading the user to the Notes 8 Basic Client. Hope this helps

<b>As to our experienced, we always recommend our users to use the local replica copy of their mailbox. This will improve the response time of their email and will also minimize the resources used in their computer, in the company's network and in LN server itself.</b> Quote

Company specific information regarding Mail DB location is good but having the DB on a server vs the local machine does come down to so many different environment veriables. If it works for you then great but as for the solution to a problem.... no that should have been a dicussion. <sorry rant over>

There most likely issues are that the server or client is performing badly. Even if the DB was on local and the client was the issue then this would not effect performance. The mail issues I have mentioned below. But there can be more.

There can be allot of reasons for this to be happening and all depends on the users setup.

First things first try recreating the cache / perweb.nsf / delete the bookmark and compact the workspace.

This will not effect the server side of this. Check as well that you dont have an issue when opening the users mail file from your machine. If this is the case then server side maintenance should be done.

normal stuff -

fixup -i
Load compact -D
updall -r

and if this does not fix it then compy style

Compact -c -i
