Email still forwarding after forwarding rule has been deleted Lotus Notes

We use Domino 7.0.3 on W2K3 and 7.0.3 Notes client on XP Pro. I set up a mail rule to forward email for one of our users to her external/personal email account. We also added my own google account to test the forwarding was working correctly and once we were happy, we removed my google account from the rule. The problem is that the rule continues to forward all this users mail to my google account despite there being no entry in the rule for it. I deleted the rule completely yet the forwarding continues. I recreated it the rule again, and added the google account again, stopped the rule and then removed the google account from it, restarted the rule and even the server. It still forwards to my account and it's driving me crazy. Please can anyone offer any more suggestions.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Is it possible you’ve created both a rule on the server, and on the Notes client? Or possibly a “mail forward” agent is in place on the mail file?

Another reason that it may not work is the fact that the information for Rules is held in fields that are attached to the “CalendarProfile” profile document in the mail file.

Profile documents are cached in the server by the router and do not always reflect the most recent changes made to them. This is just the way that “Profile” documents work.

If you can restart the Router task after making the change you can insure that the most recent profile document information is being used by the Router.

Thank you for such a quick response Mike. I have already restarted both router and server but perhaps flushing the cache and deleting the users calendar profile may help if that's the case. Worth a try as I'm stuck on this so far. Regards

Sorry I neglected to address your first question. I have double checked every replica id, client rules, and server rules set over our 4 core cluster servers and on the two smtp gateways and also the PAB location docs and NAB person records of the user. Although I'd expect to see it in the mailfile, I checked anyway and there is no agent set in shared code/agents from Domino Designer either.

Hi Jeff, This is very known issue on Lotus Domino. They have fixed this issue on Domino 8. In your case, Try to create same rule & enable & then disable it. Pls do not delete the rule. This type of prob happens when you delete the rule instead of disabling. Then stop router & amgr task & then load these 2 task. After that check whether rule has been disable forever or not.

The following Technote addressed our issues with rules not disabling R6.5 http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=rules&uid=swg21088058&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=all Although it looks like you're on R7, so perhaps this technote will help you: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21217940

It seems there are still 'deleted' Rules running on the server for user. If user had Rules before and deleted them before disabling them, they will keep running. I have been using this solution to fix this problem: To show all Rules that are removed from the Rules Folder : Create a View to show all Rules and disable and delete these Rules. Press 'Copy From' (While Holding down Ctrl-Shift) and select '(Rules)' Selection Formule : SELECT form="Mailrule" The Rules are actually stored in the Calendar profile. It does happen that Rules are deleted from the Database, but that the Rules stays active in the Calendar Profile. To show how many Rules are specified in the Calendar profile, you can create a SmartIcon : Smart Icon to Show Rules Count : p := @GetProfileField("CalendarProfile";"$FilterFormulaCount"); @Prompt([OK];"Rules Count in Calendar Profile Document :";@Text(p)) To delete all the Rules from the Calendar profile you can create an Agent : Agent code to remove rule formulas from calendar profile even if the rule is not available from the UI. When should this agent run? - Manually from Actions menu Which document(s) should it act on - Run Once '(Options) Option Public Option Explicit Sub Initialize %REM Author: Ron Jarvis Purpose: Removes all mail rules contained in caledar profile. Needed to handle situations where the rule has been removed from the UI but still exitsts in the calendar profile. %END REM Dim i As Integer Dim iDocNeedsSaving As Integer Dim sFieldName As String Dim ns As New notessession Dim ndb As notesdatabase Dim nd As notesdocument Dim niTemp As notesitem Set ndb = ns.currentdatabase Set nd = ndb.getprofiledocument("CalendarProfile") Print "Handle on Calendar Profile...." iDocNeedsSaving = False 'Kill the rules For i = 0 To 200 sFieldName = "$FilterFormula_" & i Set niTemp = nd.getFirstItem(sFieldName) If Not niTemp Is Nothing Then Print "Removing field '" & sFieldName & "' from Calendar Profile." Call niTemp.Remove iDocNeedsSaving = True End If Next 'Kill the rule counter field sFieldName = "$FilterFormulaCount" Set niTemp = nd.getFirstItem(sFieldName) If Not niTemp Is Nothing Then Print "Removing field '" & sFieldName & "' from Calendar Profile." Call niTemp.Remove iDocNeedsSaving = True End If If iDocNeedsSaving Then Call nd.Save(True, False) Print "All rule information removed from the Calendar Profile." Else Print "No rule information found on Calendar Profile." End If End Sub

Why does the client alow you to delete a rule that is not disabled? Is the "Smart Icon" a administrator function? I have 8.5 and can not find the option. I did delete a rule with out disabling it, hence my quesiton :-)

ToonVR I would just like to say thanks.... the code you put here worked a treat. We had a mail loop that was causing huge amounts of mail. The agent was created with your script this stopped. Thanks again
