Email Notification If Scheduled Task In Windows Fails
Hi All, I have scheduled an archiving process using the Scheduled Tasks in windows (2000 server). The task is running fine as per the schedule. But everyday I have to manually check whether it went fine or not. Is there any way by which I can send an email notification if the scheduled task fails due to any reason? Is there any exe file in windows which can be used? Pls help, Thanks In advance.

Answer Wiki:
If you can use a batch file (or other script) to determine success or failure, there are several mechanisms you can use for email notification. If you're running Exchange, I seem to recall that there's a command-line utility to send email - FROM a logged in machine. Netlatency.com has a sendmail command-line utility one word subject/message body - under their free tools section. If you install Cygwin (Windows Unix-like environment), you can use mailx. Hope that helps, Bob This tool is not available on this site I found a complete topic here and it works fine http://computeradvisors.net/knowledge-base/send-mail-from-command-line-utility/

I have used a product called Postie for commandline messaging. It is available for a number of OS’ including Windows. Here is the link: http://www.infradig.com/
