Q:
edge server setup with ISA 2006
I am wondering if anyone can give me some advise on setting up an edge server with a ISA 2006 server. We have a cisco ASA firewall that we currently use for internet access. I am looking for advise on setting up a perimeter network for the edge server using the ASA and the ISA server. We are planning on having the connection coming in from the outside go through a port on the ASA and connect to the edge server. Then have the internet email flow through the ISA server before being distributed to the internal exchange server. The placement of the ISA is what we are having problems with. We currently have a port coming form the ASA going to the internal network, what we need to find out is if the ISA needs to be placed in front of the entire internal network or can bypass the internal network and connect to the internal exchange server. Essentially, we are looking for a suggested setup for the edge server to go through the ASA, communicate with the ISA through another port in the ASA to the internal network and deliver mail.

I would suggest you look through the resources at ISAServer.org
Also, with ISA 2006, the help dociumentation can provide scenarios for configuration.
