We are looking to design a script that copies data files from a specific directory where the name of the directory changes based on date. Example: Today = servershare041210datafile.dat Tomorrow = servershare041211datafile.dat Each day the system creates a new directory according to the system data (e.g., 041210) that replaces (deletes) the previous days directory. The system then dumps a data file, datafile.dat, into said directory. We need to create a script that will copy the daily dump from the continuously renamed directory to a central static directory. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We are not too particular to the programming platform and are will to entertain 3rd party tools as well. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

A simple ksh unix script should do the trick:

DATE=$(date +%Y%m%d)
mkdir sevrershare$DATE
cp servershare$DATEdatafile.dat destination_folder

Bye.
