Error when upgrading from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003

Hello there, I am Faisal Rafiq, I got a problem when I try to upgrade from Win2000 server to Win2003 server I have found an error: c:/ $win_NT$~.LS/i386/system32/smss.exe please send the solution Thanks, Regards, Faisal Rafiiq

Try installing in a new server make it a domain controller in the window 2000 domain that already exist the new server will replicate all of the information in the active directory

    I guess that is not the cmplete error message. Could you please post the complete error message, and tell us what were you doing where the error occurred ?

    Make sure the server hardware us compatible with windows 2003 install windows 2000 service pack 2 or later on the server to upgrade the files in the windows 2000 server installation
