Whats the difference between getting a mac g5 dual core vs quad core system? Also the difference in the operating systems, 10.4, tiger, leopard? I saw a used Mac dual core with 10.4 newly installed and I am seriously considering it but I need to move soon before its gone. WHat can you tell me? I want to use the computer for movie making/editing, and recording music. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you are doing much video editing/creation at all, you want the most performance you can get. Period. If you can afford it, the quad core will offer you faster editing, faster conversion and publishing, ESPECIALLY if it ships with more RAM than the dual-core system.

However, if you are a garage director or what have you who is strapped for cash, the dual-core system should suit you find. In terms of video editing, there shouldn’t be much in terms of difference other than the performance.

To add to the above answer posted, I would suggest you to go for a Quad Core as it will work for you for a longer term than a dual core, because of its upgradable capabilities being higher than a dual core.
