When you are in either operating system, right click My Computer (or Computer) and then select properties. For Windows 7, select advanced system settings. For XP click the advanced tab. Then under start up and recovery change the operating system to the same version.
Make sure to set the time to display operating systems as the same. This way when you boot, you can choose which to start.
