I have .dts and .dtsx config files. i want to execute these packages in the db server, can u tel me what are the steps required to attach and configure these packages for it to execute?

Hi i assume your DTS packages were designed in SQL2000 so I'd say that you better migrate your packages to SSIS as described in this article
