When archiving mail on a domino 5.0.11 server, the messages are not deleted from the original database. How can I correct this?

Is this happening to specific emails in the dbase or to all of them?

This occurs with all messages. If the archiving threshold is set to 30 days, we see messages of the proper age in the archive. However, they still reside in the original database.

We have only one Domino server. Also, repication is disabled at the workstation.

I’ve seen this happen on large databases and what appears to be almost a timeout failure. Does this happen if you use the archive selected documents option and only archive a sample of one or two documents?

I’ve also seen this happen if a user set up their own archive settings and mistakenly named the log and the archive the same filename, consequently corrupting the archive mailfile.

In any case, whenever I see this happen I create a new archive database and start over. Then merge the old archive data with the new archive. The user will have to manually delete the duplicate documents from the active mail file after you get it all working correctly.

Archiving in R6 is also much more reliable.
