Domino Consulting?

I have more than 10 years working experience working with Domino and the Windows Platform. The idea of establishing my own consulting business is appealing to me. It that a good area to go into now that Domino and the Lotus Notes product line are so integrate with IBM? Is there any money on this now? I live in Orlando Florida and there very few companies her doing using Lotus Notes/Domino. Your answer are apreciate......

Domino shops are not concentrated in any one area any more… at least to my observation. If your skill set includes Java development and you have some skill with integrating Notes and WebSphere I would say you would have a chance of making it happen.

The problem is going to be in locating your clients and getting a foot in the door. Good luck with that… as Domino is definitely stepping up the quality of its product and the diversity of the solutions they offer, I think you would will find the market will support another Domino consultant. The problem is you can’t just move to New Jersey and fine a collection of 12 companies all using Domino and consultants as you perhaps could have 7 years ago.

The trick to making it work will be in your ability to find new business… at least as important as your technical ability with Domino.
