Q:
Domain Controllers within two Sites
I am currently investigating sites within AD. The configuration which I am looking at doing is having two DC within the main site (top of the tree) and one DC in the new site created. If for some reason with the new site the DC server goes down will the clients still be able to login using the DC in the main tree. Also in order to create a new site does it have to be a new subnet or can it be within the same subnet as the main site

Sites are defined by subnets, so a new site will need to have a new IP subnet.

If the single DC in the new site goes down the users should be able to access the DCs in the other site, but if you have a slow network link, then logins will be very slow. Because of this it is recommended to have at least 2 DCs per site.
