Yes, Live Migration really works, and it works well. You would use LIve Migration to enable you to manage your hardware independently from your applications. For example, with Live Migration, I can now take a physical machine offline to maintain it by Live Migrating the VMs to other systems within my cluster. Then, after I have maintained the hardware and rebooted it, I can Live Migrate the VMs back. This allows me to do maintenance during work hours instead of after hours. OR, if one of my VMs was taking up too many resources, I could use Live Migration to move those VMs to other systems to rebalance the load “on the fly” without downtime.
