Q:
Do you think Windows Defender is at least as good as Microsoft AntiSpyware ?
When Microsoft AntiSpyware was first released, I installed and used it for several months, and I was really satisfied with it, but I have the impression that after migrating to Windows Defender, the level of anti-spyware protection has lowered to the point that I felt the need to install another anti-spyware software and am currently using Spybot S&D.

What do you think about this, and what anti-spyware software are you using ?

I used only Windows defender for a long time but ended up having to use another antispyware program as well. I use SUPERantispyware which I downloaded for free. I actually ended up with spyware when I only used windows defender.

Dude,

Windows defender is a good software & spybot a good software too but i prefer windows defender because these programs used to remove bagges and melware that cause alot of problems.
when microsoft innovate this program they intened to use for them production Microsoft windows , thus it will be usefull

I never liked windows defender. Always seemed to have problems with computers that have it installed. For spyware, I would run Ad-Aware and Spybot. Those two seem to complement eachother because one finds what the other doesn't.

Rule of thumb I have always followed: 1 antivirus client, 2-3 spyware/adware clients. Not everybody has the same sig files for spyware/adware, so multiple tools will catch most everything.

My experience with Windows Defender has been decent but I will say it hasn’t caught much. Not sure if that’s good or bad. Defender is based on Giant Software’s anti-spyware solution which always got good reviews. It wouldn’t hurt to load up a third-party anti-spyware app and compare your results over a few weeks.
