 Do you know costs and hardware requirements to virtualize development and testing phase?
Virtualization in 2010, VMware, VMWare License, VMware Server, Windows XP
I need to configure the development environment in a VM, cloning it in 3-4 copies. I thought to use VMware server on a Windows XP host and to build 3-4 client (scalable dimension). Each machine needs 2 GB Ram and dual core CPU. I'll use this lab in my intranet. Is the VMware license free for this kind of use? And about the hardware requirements of the physical host?

VMware ESXi is free. You will need at least 8GB of ram, but I would suggest you get more if you are setting up 4 clients with 2GB of ram each.
