Q:
Do you have a favorite construction project management software tool?
Hi, this is Brian Eastwood. I'm the editor of a fairly new TechTarget site called ConstructionSoftwareReview.com, which, as its name implies, focuses on construction software products.

To that end I wanted to throw a question out to ITKnowledge Exchange readers -- what is your favorite construction project management / scheduling software tool? Are you using Microsoft Project? What about Sage or Primavera? Viewpoint? Prolog? Something else entirely? What makes the software so appealing to you -- was there one feature that made you shout, "I need that now!" or was it the whole package that impressed you?

I'd love to spark a conversation about the best (or, heck, the worst) construction project management software tools on the market. I know there are dozens of products from which to choose, and any guidance that we can collectively provide will certainly help anyone who is thinking about investing in construction software.

Thanks for your input.

I apologize ahead of time for "hijacking" your question, but I wanted to know if you've gotten an answer to this question anywhere else. I work for a CPA and accounting services firm that is looking for a software package for scheduling our auditors' and reviewers' on-site client work and have been unable to find many options.

We have a number of "must have" features that the software absolutely must be able to provide due to our exsisting infrastructure, including dynamic updating to and from Outlook calendars (most likely through Exchange), budget and actual hours tracking, and Gantt charting for easy overviews. The best-looking solution we've found so far is called InLoox, however, despite having a US representative, they are a European company that has been very slow to respond to inquiries for additional information, leaving us feeling wary about future support.

Have you heard of this program? Do you know of anyone that is using InLoox? If so, can you point me to them so that we can ask a few questions? Do you know of any other product(s) that provides the same feature set and are (hopefully) easier to get in touch with?
