Our company just upgraded to Lotus 8. When using the integrated sametime for some reason I don't get a window when others initiate a sametime session with me. However, once I initiate a session with anyone else things work fine. We've checked all the privacy settings and no issues found there.

Can you review the notes.ini file and look for any partial settings or any blank lines? If you find any, save a copy of the notes.ini for backup, then remove the partial settings and blank lines. You need to have a line return at the end of the file.

A partial setting most often occurs (in my experience) in the SmartUpgrade settings, which always appear at the end of the file. For instance, the Smart Upgrade Next Update setting should look like this.

SU_NEXT_UPDATE=02/23/2009 08:23:43 PM

But you might find “broken” pieces standing alone on a line with no “=” sign in other areas of the file, like this.

2009 08:23:43 PM

Or you could find this:

XT_UPDATE=02/23/2009 08:23:43 PM

Look for and remove any blank lines, as well as any line that has no equal sign, or any obviously incomplete setting name.

Let me know if you find anything like this and whether fixing these and restarting Notes repairs the issue.

    We had exactly the same thing happening to us on an earlier release of the 8 Client. Think it was 8.0 and 8.01. Using 8.5 now and don't get this issue.
