Do internal and public Exchange Server domain names need to match?
I have an internal Exchange server called abc.mydomain.com. The Internet registrar registers my email server as mail.mydomain.com. Is it a problem if the actual server name internally is different from the public name?

Not a problem. There can be different internal names and external names. This is a good practice.
