Do I have malware on my system?
I have been told that if you cannot see your start-up item in the system configuration utility window under the start-up tab, that's an indication that you have spyware. Is there any true to this?

that all depends on the manufacturer of the program. If it doesn't list a name it should at least list the path to the file that it is starting. Start there and try to narrow it down. If that doesn't help you can use msconfig to disable it, reboot and see if everything is ok. You should make sure your malware and AV software are up to date and run a full scan just to be sure. That alone isn't enough to determine if you have malware on your system. I would recommend you download a copy of Lavasoft adaware or spybot search and destroy to be certain. =========== It might be true, however, there is actually no way to detect the presence of malware programs running into the computer system. You can only determine that your computer system has been infected with some malware programs if you scan it using a latest antivirus, or antimalware software. I agree with Kevin; Its not 100% but odds are good. But in your case, I would say you're computer is infected. Give Malware or Trojan Remover a go at your system, guarantee will dig out those Bugs....You need good Anti-virus to answer your question. If you haven't been fully protected then yes their is a greater chance that your system is infected. Its better to be protected and infected. Like they say; prevention is better than cure... Hope this help.

It’s not 100% but odds are good that your system is infected with malware. Can you at least access the Start/Run option or the Windows Control Panel? Make sure all your malware signatures are current and run a full scan. If you still can’t see it, try reinstalling your program(s) you cannot see.
