I have a problem that is really driving me crazy at the school where I provide technical support. I think it is a DNS issue that I can’t seem to resolve. My DNS event log is filling up with errors (well – warnings) but I think that are really causing problems. They are Event ID 3000, Event ID 4010 and Event ID 7062. Related to this are slow logon times and an inability to add a wireless computer to the domain. We added 20 computers over the summer with no problem but now when I try to add a new wireless laptop I get the error that it can't find the domain. I wanted to attach screen shots but I don't see an option for that. I have checked the setup of the router and the server and I don’t see anything that has changed. I will be working on this issue on Friday since there is no school and HELP would be greatly appreciated. Please see if you can point me in the right direction.

Thank you!!

Software/Hardware used:
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP on the clients

Yes it looks like a DNS problem. I don't know if events 4010 and 7062 are directly related to the problem, but you should troubleshoot them anyway. Here are a couple of links that could help: Event ID 4010 — DNS Server Active Directory Integration DNS Server Logs Event 7062: "DNS Server Encountered a Packet Addressed to Itself" Also, have you tried an nslookup to resolve the domain controller name from one of these wireless clients ? If so, what was the result ? OTOH, I think you are not allowed to add images when creating a question, but you can do it here in the discussion. First you need to upload your image to an image hosting site, and then use the editor's 'img' tool to include it here.

Here is what I found - two routerts were configured improperly and were giving out DHCP. Once that was taken care of the errors and bad addresses were resolved. I still have a problem with some profiles taken way yoo long to load and, in at least one case, a message that the server copy of the roaming profile could not be found.
