Distribution List issue

Hi all - We have an Exchange distribution list that includes other distribution lists. Let me explain. We have an everyone group that includes all the office groups: Western, eastern, KC, California. We just added a new office in montana and created a group for them, we added them to the everyone group but it doesn't send the messages to them - my only thought on this is that when the person (not me) created the group, the didn't create and exchange email account for the group so I was thinking if I recreated the group with an email it would work? Hope this makes sense. Lirria

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

In your statement I do not see that you said that you added users to the montana group?

Sorry about that - guess I wasn't clear. We add them to the montana group, than add the montana group to the everyone group and they don't actually show up when you use the group. Just wondering if it's because there is no email address associated with the montana group. Lirria

If it doesn't have an email address then you don't need to recreate the group. Just give it an email address now, any exchange administrator would be able to do this for you. On a side note, have you considered using a query based distribution group for the everyone group? Paul

Cool - we'll get it added and make sure that works. Query based? I haven't heard of that, what is it? Lirria

adding the email address did fix the problem - thanks. On the query base group - all I can say is duh - I use google so much I have no idea why I didn't just look it up - guess it was a blonde moment! thank you for the link - it looks very interesting - I'll have to play with it for a bit. thanks again!
