There are many ways to display and print Chinese using i displays and printers. System iNews has, in the last year or so, published articles by me which detail one way (in my case using the built-in Unicode support of the i) to display and print concurrently Chinese, Russian, and English from a RPG application.
For printing I used Host Print Transform (HPT) to a very run of the mill PC printer. My printer file was defined as *AFPDS and the IBM i HPT support took care of the rest. For display I used iSeries Access for Web.
