 Display Bug with CFTextArea?

Is there a bug or a trick needed for cftextarea to display DB retrieved query data? When I try to display a single retrieved MS-SQL varchar value in a cfwindow dynamically created form, I must refresh to see the value. A HTML textarea control on the same form displays properly. Multiple query rows display fine once you've choosen a single record. But if the query tries to populate a form from a single record retrieval nothing displays in the cftextbox until refreshed(F5)
