We had been experiencing authentication issues with our Exchange server connecting to our DC. The domain controller had a trust issue with Exchange, so we determined there was a corruption in the user account associated with the Exchange server. We disjoined and then rejoined the Exchange server, and it appears to be authenticating successfully now.
The issue I need to resolve is to properly reconfigure the Exchange mail host. The Mdbdata directory is intact on another partition, but I have several error messages in the event logs associated with Exchange. These include: Event ID 1042 - Metabase Update failed to read the Configuration namespace property from the domain controller. Error code is 80040a01; Event ID 2114 - Process MAD.EXE (PID=3536). Topology Discovery failed, error 0x80040a02 & Process INETINFO.EXE (PID=1664). Topology Discovery failed, error 0x80040a02. ME Information Store service also fails to start.
What is the best way to restore the Exchange server to the previous configuration?
