How do I disable all auto-formatting functions when creating a Word-type document?

You can drop your text into Notepad – or create it there if it is not yet prepared. That will give you a formatting-free Word-type document.

    The other thing that you can do, is go into the Advanced TAB in the Options Menu and turn off all the Auto Formatting that is turned on by default.  Remember, though, that this will change the Normal Template that is turn on by default including spell check and a few other things.  The Normal Template is what is opened by default when start a new Document.
