I've used the Dir() function with VBA several times for different file formats, but for some reason it's not working on .pdf files. Am I missing something?

I think 8.3 file name is missing from the server , just a guess . dir*.pdf - does that show pdf files try this command fsutil file setshortname test.txt 1 test~1.txt http://ss64.com/nt/fsutil.html check if a new test file is created maybe I am totally incorrect . I apologize in advance.

Oh man. I never saw answers come through to my email account on this question. Sorry for not responding. I was able to get this to work, but thank you for responding. I was having a problem with my variable string, so I guess I should have done some more testing and step throughs before asking a question.
