Answer Wiki:
B2B whitepapers are designed to be read, chewed over and cogitated on i.e they make you think about your business problems in a certain area and how the market is providing solutions (or not…)Product data sheets are specific summary statements about vendor solutions to these problems in the forms of products (usually) or services. They’re important because customers and prospects expect a concise description of what they’re thinking of buying in a form that can be dissected and distributed internally. For example, procurement committees will often ask for links to data sheets (and sometimes the hard copy too) as part of their approval review process.
