what is the difference between nfsv3 and nfsv4 ?

Answer Wiki

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

In NFSv3, clients must rely on an auxiliary protocol, the MOUNT protocol….NFSv3 is an ostensibly stateless protocol.
NFSv4 uses a different mechanism for presenting the server’s export and their associated root filehandles, to the client i.e. the pseudo file system. NFSv4 defines a special operation to retrieve the ROOT filehandle.
NOTE: NFSv4 is a network file system. NFSv4 is the successor of NFSv3. It has been designed to work on a LAN or over the Internet

Hope it may help u !
