The DHCP ip address is being used by some other computer and it wont release back into the license pool for another computer to use it. How do you get the DHCP ip address for the old computer? How can you reuse it?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

At a command prompt type ipconfig /release – this will release the current address on the device. To get a new address type ipconfig /renew. However, Windows machines are known to have “sticky” addresses and are not likely to get a different IP address. You can go into the DHCP management console and remove the address lease and see if the device will then get the address you need.

I would be curious to know whether the device connects wirelessly or hardwire. This can change the physical address of the drive (MAC address) of you are wanting to refresh. Remember to specify (turn off wireless if necessary).
