The Distributed File System console is installed by default in Windows server 2003 and found in the administrative tools folder….
Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Distributed File System
In management console, right click the node and select new root
NOTE: Here u choose any one, either StandAlone or Domain
On next screen where to select which trusted domains will be hosted. For eg say test.com
Remember here fully qualified domain name is required….
Next supply Root name and Preview of UNC…. and comments is optional.
type the name of the share folder name.
Now dfs is configured and visible in the configuration console. To test it, right click the root target and press Status to check if it is online or not.
If u want to add a new link, right click on root dfs and select new link. On next DB supply the proper info to visible the link.
